Crocheting a Granny Square Vest for an SD BJD

I made this granny square vest for Lena, my SD BJD about a year ago, maybe more. The process was pretty simple, and using these instructions, you could make a version for a different size doll or yourself. If you already know how to make a granny square, you can skip steps 1 - 5.

Steps

  1. Make a magic circle.
  2. Round 1: ch3 (counts as first stitch), dc2 into center circle, ch 3, dc3 into center circle, ch3, dc3 into center circle, ch3, dc3 into center circle, ch3. sl st into first stitch.
  3. Round 2: ch3 (counts as first stitch), dc2 into corner space below, ch2, dc3 into next corner space below, ch3, dc3 into corner space below, ch2, dc3 into next corner space below, ch3, dc3 into corner space below, ch2, dc3 into next corner space below, ch3, dc3 into corner space below ch3, dc3 into corner space below, sl st into first chain in round.
  4. Round 3: ch3 (counts as first stitch), dc2 into corner space below, ch 2, dc3 into next space below, continue until you get to the corner, then dc3 into corner, ch 3, dc3 into the same corner. When you reach the last corner, dc3 into corner, ch3, sl st to the corner.
  5. Keep building the granny square until it will stretch from shoulder to shoulder on your doll. I ended up with eight rounds.
  6. Repeat steps for the second square.
  7. Next, begin the sleeves. Attatch your yarn to the corner. ch 3 (counts as first stitch), dc2 into corner space, ch 2, dc3 into space below, ch 2, dc3 into space below.
  8. Turn, ch 3, dc3 into space below, ch 2, dc3 into space below, ch2, dc into first stitch in previous row.
  9. Turn ch (counts as first stitch), dc2 into the space below, ch2, dc3 into the space below, ch2, dc3 into the space below
  10. Turn, ch 3, dc3 into space below, ch 2, dc3 into space below, ch2, dc into first stitch in previous row.
  11. Repeat steps 7-10 on the other side of the square.
  12. Repeat steps 7-11 on the second square
  13. Next we need to create the sides. In the bottom corner stitch, attactch your yarn. Ch3 (counts as first stitch), dc2 into space below, ch2, dc3 into space below, ch2, dc3 into space below, ch2, dc3 into the space below, ch2, dc3 into the space below.
  14. Turn, ch3, dc3 into the next space below, ch2, dc3 into the space below, ch2, dc3 into the space below, ch2, dc3 into the space below, ch2, dc3 into the last stitch below.
  15. Repeeat steps 13 and 14 on the opposite side.
  16. Repeat steps 13 - 15 on the second square.
  17. Place one square on top of the other, good side to good side. Sew the sleeves together.
  18. Sew the sides together.
  19. Weave in the ends
